Michael A. Wasylik, MD. is Chairman of the Managed Care Committee for the Florida Medical Association. Representing the FMA, he is a member of the Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida program recognizing physician excellence which has developed performance measures based on HEDIS and NQF standards, and a member of the United Healthcare Premium Florida Physicians Advisory Committee advising United's Designation Program.
Dr. Wasylik practices at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa and has served as Chief of Orthopaedics, Chief of the Quality Committee, and President of the Medical Staff. He participated in the development and implementation of standardized order sets for treatment of joint replacement patients, and in the implementation of hospital evidence-based measures required by JACO. He was a physician champion for a Sixth Sigma Process Improvement Team which mandated compliance for prophylactic antibiotic surgical care.
Dr. Wasylik also serves as the voting representative of the Florida Medical Association on the American Medical Association's Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement which develops performance measures and practice guidelines to improve quality of care.
He has been appointed by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration to the State Consumer Health Information and Policy Advisory Consul, whose role is to assess quality and performance measures and report health care information. Also for the Agency for Health Care Administration, he has served as Chairman of the Physicians' Data Technical Workgroup which reports physician performance measures. He has been appointed by the Secretary of AHCA to the Data Transparency Steering Committee.
Dr. Wasylik is a graduate of the Ohio State Medical School. After completing his orthopaedic residency at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, he practiced in the U.S. Navy. He has been President of the Hillsborough County Medical Association and has received their Outstanding Physician of the Year Award. He has also received the Certificate of Appreciation Award from the Florida Medical Association.
